Email Marketing Specialist Job Description

The Email Marketing Specialist will report to the Director of Digital Marketing and support multiple groups within the company on internal and external marketing and fulfillment efforts pertaining to everything email. They are responsible for supporting email marketing and automation efforts, supporting the Director of Digital Marketing in handling everything from project initiation through planning and execution. They must execute all aspects of email marketing campaigns - building, deploying, and reporting. They also maintain communication with internal Fulfillment and Digital departments to support Email marketing, automation, and lead nurturing execution.

To be successful in the role, the candidate will remain abreast of technological developments that facilitate the dissemination and monitoring of campaign features. This individual has hands-on experience executing email campaigns, building audiences, managing the company's marketing database, building and deploying emails, defining and building customer journeys in drip campaigns, and regularly reporting performance.

Specific Responsibilities:

Creating and monitoring a wide variety of email marketing campaigns and reviewing our existing campaigns to ascertain areas of strength and weakness, which could improve future email performance.

Use email marketing concepts and metrics to measure and optimize our email campaigns to improve open rates, deliverability, click rates, and conversion rates and to achieve specific business goals.

Actively make recommendations to standardize email templates and actively work to improve the appearance layout of outputs.

Building and deploying email campaigns through a marketing automation platform.

Maintaining a database of prospects while actively building lists for emails and managing a companywide database that consists of prospects, clients, leads, subscribers, and so forth.

Monitoring and reporting on the performance of each campaign.

Collaborate with copy and design teams on execution and proofread key messaging in and out of templates.


Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or similar.

2-3 years of experience in email marketing.

1-2 years of recent experience with Hubspot, Marketo, or any other Marketing Automation tool.

Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and Excel, with working knowledge of SQL.

Graphic design capabilities are a plus.

Energy, marketing agency, or media services experience is a plus.
