The Java Software Engineers in the Commodities and Global Markets Technology team in Houston are some of the best in the business. We are looking for motivated individuals to join the team that has the desire to make an immediate impact in a global company and have the technical skills to contribute from day one. In this role, you will work alongside a diverse team of individuals in multiple offices across the globe and be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of service-oriented applications to support our Commodities and Global Markets trading operations.

We need highly skilled Java developers to assist the company in modernizing its existing software stack using the latest technologies and cloud capabilities to enable the Commodities and Global Markets business to expand and grow into new markets across the globe and continue to be leaders in the industry. Your top-notch design skills and coding capabilities will be tasked with developing our global service-oriented architecture for real-time risk and PnL calculations on our trading portfolio which will be delivered using agile methodologies in support of the business. You will get opportunities to work closely with the trading group and other supports, including Risk Management Group and Finance Management group.

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

 

To be successful in this role, you will have 5+ years of experience working in a challenging, fast-paced work environment with high visibility to internal customers and stakeholders across the globe, maintaining a successful record delivering results. The ideal candidates will have competencies across all aspects of software engineering, including testing, full-stack development, and integration.

 

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement service-oriented architecture to support global commodities, credit markets, and fixed-income trading operations.

• Build robust risk and PnL in AWS environment, including Amazon EKS, MSK, and Aurora DB

• Enhance, upgrade, and support our CI framework enabling our agile methodologies.

• Design, develop and maintain dashboard monitoring systems as required. Proactively monitoring system health, responding to alerts and incidents, automating support tasks, and eliminating failure demand.

 

Candidate Capabilities:

• A great team player who contributes to all phases of the software development lifecycle. Write well-designed, testable, and maintainable code.

• Experience designing and coding in Java, Scala

• Experience developing service-oriented architecture.

• An understanding of common design patterns and data concepts. Familiarity with cloud-based development

• Familiarity with functional programming and design
