Our client is a global leader in climate control solutions headquartered in the greater Dallas area. Our client operates in two segments across North America: Home Comfort Solutions and Building Climate Solutions.


Home Comfort Solutions (HCS): A $3.6B segment that manufacturers and markets a broad range of home heating and cooling equipment for both the residential replacement and new construction markets in North America. Its product lines – extending from the entry-level market segment to the premium high-efficiency market segment – include air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, packaged heating and cooling systems, and HVAC parts and accessories. HCS manufacturing facilities are located in Marshalltown, Iowa; Orangeburg, South Carolina; Grenada, Mississippi; and Saltillo, Mexico.


Building Climate Solutions (BCS): A $1.7B segment that provides indoor comfort solutions for low-rise office buildings, restaurants, retail establishments, distribution centers, schools, and other light commercial applications, as well as commercial refrigeration solutions to preserve food and other perishables in supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, warehouses, and distribution centers in North America. Our HVAC service business focuses on full protection, preventive maintenance, planned replacement, installation, and recycling for schools, restaurants, and retail establishments on a national basis. HVAC products include packaged rooftop units, split systems, VRF and indoor air quality systems. Commercial refrigeration products include unit coolers, condensing units and compressorized racks. As the Director, Corporate EHS, you will drive global efforts for safety, ergonomics, environmental, sustainability, remediation, and compliance. The position is responsible for EHS directly leading a team of 8 EHS professionals and indirectly leading EHS teams across our operations. The position will interact with the Board of Directors, CEO, executive team, and operations leaders.


Candidates must have experience in managing safety, ergonomics, environmental, sustainability programs and active employee engagement programs in a multi-site manufacturing, distribution, and service company. The successful candidate will be a
visible and influential safety leader who instills a culture of responsibility, ensuring leaders at every level take ownership of safety performance. This role requires the ability to set clear expectations, hold teams accountable to high standards, and foster a workplace where responsibility for safety and sustainability is shared, consistent, and measurable. This role reports into the EVP, Chief Human Resources Officer.


Key Responsibilities

  • ï‚· Promote a shared vision for EHS Excellence

  • ï‚· Direct, manage, and inspire a team of talented EHS leads and external consultants

  • ï‚· Develop, support, lead, and execute strategies to reduce:

    • ï‚· Workplace safety and ergonomic injury risks

    • ï‚· Environmental emissions and impacts

  • ï‚· Develop and implement plans to achieve environmental sustainability goals for energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, solid waste, recyclables, & water stewardship

  • ï‚· Establish effective partnerships with business unit operations teams, collaborating cross-functionally, to ensure success and results attainment

  • ï‚· Develop and execute an overall program management and change management strategy

  • ï‚· Develop and execute a strategy to centralize disparate fields of data to streamline reporting efforts

  • ï‚· Oversee administration of audits of the company’s facilities and compliance with the implementation of the audit findings

  • ï‚· Prioritize and continually improve the company’s EHS compliance strategies and management systems

  • ï‚· Identify and monitor safety and environmental regulatory changes that could affect the company’s operations and implement appropriate engagement and/or mitigation strategies

  • ï‚· Maintain and improve policies, guidelines, and operational procedures related to EHS

  • ï‚· Teach and mentor other EHS professionals

  • ï‚· Appreciation for the need to recognize performance contributions and celebrate accomplishments

  • ï‚· Implement programs/processes to ensure compliance with domestic & international EHS legislation

  • ï‚· Manage remediation sites: strategy, budget, and assessments

Experience And Qualifications


What We Are Looking For

  • ï‚· Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with at least five years developing and executing corporate-wide EHS programs

  • ï‚· Demonstrated career progression that includes or leads to corporate function responsibility

  • ï‚· Manufacturing industry knowledge and experience

  • ï‚· Proven track record managing a team

  • ï‚· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • ï‚· Excellent analytical, project management, presentation, and influencing skills

  • ï‚· Demonstrated project management experience in a corporate function

  • ï‚· Extensive knowledge of applicable US federal and state EHS regulations

  • ï‚· Working knowledge of Mexican and Canadian environmental regulatory programs (preferred)

  • ï‚· Working knowledge of safety and environmental compliance and sustainability data aggregation, sustainability reporting, and verification

  • ï‚· Experience working with consultants and managing financial reserves to resolve legacy soil and groundwater remediation issues

  • ï‚· Willingness to travel up to 25%

Education
ï‚· Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, EHS, or related field is required. An advanced degree with associated credentials is preferred (PE, CSP, etc.)


Other Work Requirements
This is an on-site leadership role based in Richardson, TX, with occasional travel to other locations.
